New Google search on FineWoodworking.com

We heard the complaints… our search tool left a lot to be desired, so we kicked it to the curb and jumped on the Google bandwagon.

The entire site is now indexed by the behemoth’s powerful algorithm.

This means that you can now search for “plans” and won’t get a list of content on “planes.”

Our old search program had trouble searching our new gallery, blogs, and video workshops and that’s been resolved.

In addition, you can now filter your results in two ways. You can sort it by Tool Reviews, which selects only items in the tool guide.

Google Search

You can also limit results to archive content from Fine Woodworking magazine, which lets you filter results to only show archive PDF articles.

Anyway, thanks for your patience with the clunky search of the past. Hope that enjoy the new tool. Let us know if you’re still having trouble finding what you’re looking for…

GEide writes: Sorry to hear about your continuing search frustration... but, good feedback on the thumbs down. We will try to get that in for the next iteration of our site. Posted: 2:30 pm on April 2nd
tenthumbs writes: Can you put in a thumbs downs icon for people to select. The custom google search results in broken paragraphs with no author. The google search within FWW.com does not yield a concise, simple summary of the topic/author. Lipstick on a "new" clunky search is still a new clunky search. Posted: 9:22 pm on March 18th
