Matched Shaker Nightstands
March 25th, 2009 in The GalleryThese nightstands were my first real furniture project. They are closely modeled after the work of Becksvoort and the dresser by Mike Pekovich in FWW. All the cherry was from a single log, allowing me to bookmatch all of the glued-up panels. On one stand the grain is continuous up one side, over the top, and down the other, but I didn't have enough bookmatch to to that on both. Because I wanted to have consistent wood throughout, I taught myself to make all the moldings, which much help from FWW!!

Looks great. I just started milling up lumber to build a couple of nightstands following the same article as you did by Mike Pekovich, I was just wondering what did your overall dimensions end up being? How did the dovetailed keys for the side molding go for you? Now what a chest of drawers to match?
