This small, decorative side table was built for a client with minimal room who needed a table to go between two chairs but also to be put against a wall for added space. Built from Black Walnut and figured Eastern Maple, I used traditional joinery techniques such as mortise and tenon and plugged dowel. The figured maple on the top and sides is shop sawn, 1/8" veneer, bookmatched and glued on a cabinet grade plywood substrait. The "floating top" has breadboard edges with exposed splines. The book deck is Black Walnut and the gently curved legs give it an Asian look. It is finished is several coats of hand-rubbed oil/varnish.
