This box is made to store the tail feather of the one of the world’s rarest birds, the Kakapo. The inlay is an ironic reference to flight – the Kakapo is a large flightless parrot.

Box

Sides: New Zealand Mountain Beech,

Base: New Zealand Red Beech Burr,

Lid: New Zealand Fiddleback Silver Beech

Handle: Rewarewa

Inlay: Cocobolo, Walnut,  Wenge, Osage Orange, Black pearl shell, Silver
