Table before final finish & glass inset on top.
Final dimensions are 12" x 12" x 18".
Stiles were resawn to make the frame--not a 1/4" to spare. Louvres became panel. The semi-circles are where the control rods joined the stiles.
Original shutter with what is probably original paint. One end and half of one stile were rotted through.
The leg blanks sprouted "warts" as I filled the louvre holes with plugs oriented to match the grain.
I sanded the louvres to "redistribute" the original paint, then sealed with shellac. I then trimmed them, planed them to 1/8", and glued them to solid pine substrate to avoid wood movement issues.

A shutter from my great-grandfather's house became a wedding gift table for his great-great-grandson.
Stiles became legs. Rails became the top frame. Louvres became aprons and the top panel.
A glass insert (not shown) protects the top panel.
