Family Room Bookshelf
June 21st, 2009 in The GalleryShelves built from red oak 3/4" plywood and quarter sawn oak. I used brass plated shelf inserts with metal sleeves from Lee Valley. Each bay has a 10 watt halogen light which is controlled by a hidden rocker switch. While the woodworking is done for the shelves they need to be stained and varathaned to match the standards.
This is my first major furniture project and the online videos were very helpful to learn the skills I needed. The idea for the shelves came from a magazine article. I modified the design to meet our needs and added the lighting.
