I created a pair of these cabinets to house my ever growing media collection.  I use one for my CD's and the other is rapidly filling up with my 6-year old's Disney and Scooby Doo videos...

I adapted the design from a neighbor's full-sized bookcase, which I believe came from Restoration Hardware.  I scaled the design down to fit a DVD case instead of a full sized book.  I suppose the design would work well for paperback books as well.

The piece is made from quarter-sawn white oak and the door muttons are joined using ebony bowtie splines.  The stain is Michael's Cherry from Finishworks LLC and the finish is polyurethane varnish.
