Slant Arm Slat Morris Chair

This is a Slant Arm Morris Chair with side slats made of flat sawn white oak. Water soluble aniline dye, glazing and shellac was used for finishing. The seat and cushion is covered with 1.4mm-thick cow leather. Back slats were not bent, which would not hamper the comfortableness thanks to the thick cushion. I have tried to steam bend them for cosmetic reasons but given up the efforts for difficulty of producing identical curves as well as long term stability of the bent slats.

To the best of my knowledge and experience, water-soluble Aniline is the most uv-resistant of all the dyes ever developed to date. This is the reason why professionals go for aniline. However, correct me if I am wrong. Posted: 9:16 pm on August 19th
