This is my second submission of a Student Desk. I have been an amateur woodworker for about 30 years.  Woodworking for me is a hobby.  All my work is made for my children, grand-children as well as my wife and I.  I use Canvas™ on my Macintosh to make the drawings and establish measurements prior to undertaking any of my projects.  This Cherry and Maple "Student Desk" was made for my daughter.  The drawer buttons and other decorative are in Purpleheart.  Most of the furniture I make is designed along the same general lines and concepts.  This one was completed yesterday, October 5th.

Sorry for the late reply. The purpleheart does indeed change to brownish when worked, but returns to its purple color quite fast, especially when finish is applied. Posted: 3:25 pm on October 28th

SpartyBill writes: I really enjoy this design. I like how the corner posts/top are a lighter/contrasting wood to the main wood used for construction.

Did you have any trouble with the purpleheart browning after you machined the pulls? If so, did exposure to light bring back the purple ?
