Free Plan: A Simple Desk Organizer

Making sense of your office or kitchen work area chaos is easy when you have this attractive and functional desk organizer, which also offers a fun multi-day project for all skill levels.

Vertical dividers give you a place to sort out your life -- bills, coupons, recipes, phone messages -- and provide a good lesson in cutting dadoes. The drawer construction is relatively simple and can be made even easier by butt-joining the front and back to the sides.

Most of the parts in this organizer are made from 1/2-in.-thick oak, with pine or poplar used as secondary wood for the sides and back of the drawer. Note: the dimensions on the cutlist and plan are only a guide. The goal is to fit the drawer to the case, not to make cuts just because a cutlist tells you to.

ewdysar writes: This is not really a free plan, just a description of the project. If you want measurements or any specific information, you need to buy the book that the plan was published in or you can buy just the chapter as a download. To me, this seems like a very detailed and informative ad, but I wouldn't call it a free plan. Posted: 11:35 am on April 8th
