I had two ideas in mind when I designed this piece: I wanted to make a spice chest with the intimate bank of varied sized drawers as well as make a larger piece with tall sculpted legs.  The legs are shaped out of 16/4 walnut and are a variation of the cabriole reversing curve, just stretched out to give a light, airy, and graceful appearance.  The primary woods of the case are 4/4 walnut and walnut burl veneer (for the doors), with secondary woods of poplar.  The drawer fronts are pulled from crotch, curly sections of the available walnut and are each fit with handcut half blind dovetails.
