Free Plan: Folding Vineyard Table

This trestle-style Vineyard table is a remarkably compact package, folding easily for storage and transportation. Hinges replace joints on this table between the legs and cleats, and the tabletop is held level by a beautiful harp-shaped support that spins around on one set of dowels.

The plans presented here are from Neal White of San Jose, California. He designed and built the original table out of white oak, though original tables were made of a variety of locally available woods. It serves as a second table for family gatherings, he writes.

White's original plan was featured in the book "Dining Tables," published by The Taunton Press, and has been offered as a free 16-page download for several years, becoming one of the most popular on our site.

Like all trestle tables, this one is easily modified to suit the builder's taste and talents. Vineyard tabletops are typically round or elliptical, but you can make the top for this table in almost any size or shape as long as the width clears the feet when the table is flipped.

One caveat : I have replaced the bottom dowels supporting the harp by steel dowels when the wooden ones broke on two tables. Posted: 8:27 am on March 11th
