Problem- How to create a strong footboard panel using five mesquite "shorts" assembled end-grain to end-grain? The two "sky" boards and three "mountain" boards ( 3/8 thick) are each glued together using torsion box construction techniques.   The surfaces of all five are glued together along the live edge which in turn is anchored to the middle of each stile of the frame . The wood above and below that glue line is free to float up and down.  1/8 inch plywood covers the hidden side of the footboard and provides a pocket for holding the bed bolt wrench.
