This desk was modified from a plan by Thomas Moser for use with my laptop computer.  It is made of walnut, with pine and maple plywood, finished with satin polyurethane

I then took a course at significant time and expense through Conover's Workshop and I guess that completely soured me on classes. The instructor spent most of the time doing his own project rather than helping elevate the students level of work. I learned more from other students. Classes are definitely a personal experience and I think the quality of instruction has alot to do with it.
For the time and money I am learning alot in the books Posted: 10:08 pm on January 29th

Was a little surprise by your profile comment that you thought your workshop experiences were a waste of time. I also have obtained most of my woodworking knowledge from books and trial and error. However, I have attended most all of Mike Dunbar's Windsor chair workshops and have loved all of them. I try to get to one workshop a year somewhere between Washington and Texas. I visit my mother in Quitman, Texas (100 miles east of Dallas) every year and try to write off some of my mileage by attending woodworking workshops. Your postings show some nice work. Keep up the good work. Nice looking boy!!
