Prototype of Partial Joint

I made this chest for my wife's birthday. The dovetails are all handmade. Unique to  this chest are the "partial " dovetails required to add the bottom skirt since the skirt is cut away where it engages the chest. Also the dovetail arrangement for the top rim has alternate joints to allow for final trimming of the dovetail to match the chest lenght and width.

The chest contains a cedar floor and brass hardware with hidden hinges.

Before starting his project , I spent time making prototype joints and learning how to sharpen my chisels.
